In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of women who confess that they leave the house without a bra - and now it seems that the phenomenon is expanding and gaining momentum on social networks. The hashtag "No Bra" has more than 600 million tags on TikTok — and women share their looks when they go out without and feel without. What apparently led to this trend is another hashtag, the nobrachallenge, which went viral and amassed over 9 million views. It may sound a little sexual, but that's not the purpose of the trend. Women share how they look in loose clothing and the trend helps normalize different forms of female breasts.

A content creator named Vaninileon went viral when she shared that she would try to walk around without a bra all week. "I have big to medium-sized boobs, and I want to try to go without a bra for at least one week," she said in the video. She explained that she doesn't like wearing bras in the summer because it ruins her look. "Honestly, in any cute top, they're visible," she said of the bras.

The TikToker has racked up millions of views and people have applauded her decision. "I will follow your journey with great interest," one commented, while another added: "Believe me when I say no one will judge you badly." "Let them be free!" wrote another.

Of course, not every low-rise Gen Z is enthusiastic about the idea. TikTok creator Lacey Claire took a video without a bra, wearing a white shirt, to show that going without a bra is not a solution for every woman. The video has garnered millions of views and many women shared that even if they wanted to, they don't feel like their breasts are built to walk around. "Mine are tiny, but they're separated," one wrote, while another added: "Mine looks like a giant tent." "The fact that so many women have the same problem makes me feel less alone," wrote another.

Psychologist Carly Dover explained that the trend is a big "statement" of young women. "Emotionally and psychologically, not wearing a bra can be expressed as a statement about how you want to present yourself to the world and also how you want to cover very normal body parts," she said. She says many women feel "liberated" from not wearing a bra — which is an encouraging sign for young women who want to put "power" back in their hands.

Dover explained that the braless trend is also a very positive thing for those who choose to adopt it. "I think anything that allows people to present themselves to the world the way they would like is ultimately beneficial. It can be empowering and liberating to walk without a bra – so if Gen Z is exploring what bras mean to them, I urge them to keep exploring."
